Aparna Sanwalka
BCom, RECE, Dip Psych, RBT Certificate
Executive Director/Supervising Therapist/ Education Advocate/Case Management
Aparna has had a passion for education and advocacy from a young age. She originally pursued a Bachelor’s in Commerce but soon realized her true passion was to work with children and changed course to obtain her diploma in Early Childhood education from Centennial College. Aparna took her passion and began working as a French immersion teacher and went on to teach at Mentor College. She also was a Job Link facilitator at Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Center. While there she developed and taught the Home Day Care provider course, that has become the basis of the current college courses taught throughout Ontario today.
When she discovered that she had a child with ASD, she changed direction and used all her education and experience with education, law, and Mental Health to find solutions for her child’s success. Upon learning that other families were facing the same challenges and that there was little help, she decided to form Convergency to support families touched by Autism so that they could get experienced, quality support. To further that, Aparna is currently in the process of completing courses to obtain her BCBA certification. Her passion is to help children/youth achieve their full potential.
Aparna has spent the past 20+ years learning and supporting children and youth with Autism. She has extensive knowledge and experience in the education field and brings that to the IBI (intensive Behaviour interventions) that she is part of. She provides case management and coordination, in addition to individual care to each of the families she is blessed to support and firmly believes in ensuring that any and all care is family centered. Aparna loves to learn and is always looking for ways to make learning fun and engaging, and is always finding innovative new ways to keep children engaged and learning.
She truly believes that everyone deserves a chance to be their best self. Aparna is an active volunteer with H2O4all, her church, and mentoring women fleeing domestic violence.
